Lion has recently energised this impressive 690 kW solar system at their brewing facility in Milton, Queensland.
This perfect example of old-meets-new comprises 2,200 solar panels on the roof of a 140-year-old historic Brisbane landmark. The system is expected to generate approximately 1.4 MWh of annual electricity, equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by 150 large homes in Brisbane in a year.
Lion is committed to reducing its emissions by 30% by 2025, from a 2015 baseline. This latest investment in the brewery is in addition to more than $5 million already spent on brewery improvements over the past decade.
Lion’s Group Supply Chain Director, Ian Roberts, commented; “This will reduce the site’s annual carbon emissions by about 1260 tonnes, which is about seven per cent of CO2 emissions from electricity used at XXXX.”
“We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and being a good neighbour to the many residents and businesses that call Milton home.”
